City region limits: Questioning city-centric growth narratives in medium-sized cities

In this paper, we consider the implications of applying city region concept to a medium-sized and whether such an application spatial governmental policy is appropriate when central in question also not necessarily economically dominant or connected its wider city-region. This gives deeper understanding process subnational restructuring UK state via production regions which has now been progress since 2010 Coalition Government. The primary focus governmentally academic literature on larger (English) regions, but here highlight how applied distinctive ways devolved nations UK. To end, upon case Swansea Bay City Region, based South West Wales, looking through lens Welsh devolution city-region as scalar narrative for delivery economic development.
